Meditation, Embodiment and Creativity: A Mindfulness Workshop in Igniting Inspiration in Your Mind and Body
March 16th 4-6pm at GFCLA - 806 Yale St, Chinatown, LA 90012
Join artist Yumi Sakugawa in this 2-hour workshop where participants will learn basic meditation and mindfulness techniques for being fully present in their own bodies and minds, and learn how to harness and ignite the feeling of inspiration when they are feeling creatively stuck or uninspired. Participants will also engage in guided visualization techniques and creative writing exercises to help discover and excavate internal sources of creative energy. No prior meditation experience necessary, all levels are welcome.
Please bring a notebook and writing utensil, and wear comfortable clothing. Some light movement exercises may occur.
ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Yumi Sakugawa is a second-generation Japanese-Okinawan-American interdisciplinary artist and the author of several published books including I THINK I AM IN FRIEND-LOVE WITH YOU, YOUR ILLUSTRATED GUIDE TO BECOMING ONE WITH THE UNIVERSE and THE LITTLE BOOK OF LIFE HACKS. She has also exhibited multimedia works at the Japanese American National Museum and the Smithsonian Arts & Industries Building. A Sagittarius sun and Aquarius ascendant with a midheaven in Scorpio, Yumi is currently obsessed with desert landscapes, Copic markers, mindful fashion as spiritual armor, hot lemon water, and shadow integration. @yumisakugawa
